David Robertson

He is remembered with honour on the Lone Pine Memorial, St. Michael and All Angels Church Memorial and Helensburgh War Memorial, Column 1 Line 35.

The family home was 18, Colquhoun Street, Helensburgh, the son of George Robertson and Williamina McIntosh Robertson (Mina)..
Siblings: David had three younger brothers, George, Hector and James and a sister Jessie. George served with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
 David Robertson was born in Helensburgh where is father was a badge porter and he was brought up in the town. He was a choirboy at St Michaels and All Angels Church.
He emigrated to Australia and returned with the Australian Expeditionary Force to fight for his home country. Listed as wounded in May 1915, he was brought back to Scotland to recover and then returned to duty.
David died at Gallipoli, killed in action. He was 24 years old. David's brother-in-law, Jack Taylor, died in 1917 and is also named on the memorial.
